"Being humble means recognizing that we are not earth to see how important we can become, but to see how much difference we can make in the lives of others." -Gordon B. Hinckley. This quote teaches us many crucial points that we should adopt in our mindsets. For one thing, it reminds us that we weren't created to make a name for ourselves. Of course, we need to be good, pious people so we are remembered for our considerate deeds and therefore influence others to follow in our footsteps. However, our life shouldn't be centered around just becoming more powerful or successful people in order to be praised and loved by others. It should be a life where we take into consideration the success of others more so than our own selfish motives. Tending to our own selves is necessary especially since we should be strong first before we aid others in achieving their own strength. But sometimes we take this self-tending to mean that our own happiness or stability is above others'. This is not true: we have been sent so that we help one another in accomplishing our needs and maintaining an existence that is positive. Making a difference in other's lives, as the quote states, is the true meaning of possessing humility. Remembering that others are just important as us, and that those who are struggling are in need of so much more help than ourselves. By keeping this in mind, we are able inculcate a key virtue that should exist in every human and become people whose minds think of the word "we" before the word "I".
